Can you guess which color is the hardest to get right in your home? Sherwin Williams once had a meeting for designers and stagers I was able to attend. They told us that one color is often purchased, applied and then painted over within a week because home owners find it overwhelming once it reflects on itself.
That color is yellow.
People dream of that perfect yellow, but it’s very hard to get right. As a matter of fact, in 2024, Sherwin-Williams released that one of their yellow paint colours is the LEAST popular of ALL their paint tones.
The color is Kingdom Gold. SW 6698. This paint has sold under 11,000 gallons of paint since its initial launch 15 years ago!! Remember, Sherwin Williams sells millions of gallons of paint every year.
Why am I telling you this? Well, bold colours can cost you showings and interest when you’re selling your home. The National Association of REALTORS® and Real Estate Staging Association both advise sellers use light, neutral paints when trying to sell their homes. We call paint “Money in a Can” for a reason.
